Hello all! I've got two projects I want to get done. The first is fixing a sky hook into the ceiling of our main space to hang a light fixture. The other is wall mounting my basses. Both require drilling into concrete to get a plug in. Have any of you done this? Do we have the tools (hammer drill? bits?) to do this? Any advice or insights are most welcome. Thanks!

Hey Jim sounds like great projects! As far as a hook in the ceiling, I would use a toggle bolt/hook combo. Something like this, comes with a toggle end - https://www.homedepot.ca/product/paulin-ceiling-hooks-white/1000110133
As far as having your bass, I have hung my guitars with hangers I built out of wood and garden tool holders. But you could buy a specific bass hanger to use, I have one of those as well and they work great. - https://www.long-mcquade.com/93421/Guitars/Stands/String-Swing/Wall-Mount-Guitar-Hanger-for-Acoustics-and-Electrics---Black-Walnut.htm
If hanging this guitar hanger you can use the white screw in drywall plugs listed in the other thread. - https://www.homedepot.ca/product/e-z-ancor---6-e-z-lite-r-self-drilling-drywall-anchor-in-nylon-with-screw-225-pcs/1001075814
I tagged you in another post that has a lot more details about what wall plugs to use and some more links that might help.
The walls here are hollow wall construction with metal studs. Of course there is concrete behind the metal studs, and occasionally depending on the build in your unit, the concrete ends up right behind the drywall. If it happens that you drill through and find no hollow section, but concrete in behind, you can use a drill bit to make a hole and a regular wall plug into the concrete through the drywall. Something like this would do - https://www.homedepot.ca/product/paulin--8-12-x-1-1-4-inch-plastic-wall-plug-with-screw-225pcs/1001076211
*Slight edit to this that though most walls are hollow wall construction, some folks actually have one or two walls in their unit that is just concrete, without any drywall on it. If you have a solid concrete wall, the link above to the wall plugs should work ok for you, I have used those plugs in concrete in the past and have been very successful. It really depends on the quality of the concrete, and make sure you don't drill the hole too big, a small hole is better with the plug jammed in tight.
I'd get a box that includes the screws and plugs and a #8 thickness with 1 1/2 -2 inch length.
The tool library has regular drill bits, concrete drill bits, a hammer drill.. probably everything you would need for the jobs you described.
Hope this helps!
